Vinegar Flats entry bridge · Updated Oct. 14, 2026
Neighbors have raised loitering under the bridge at the Vinegar Flats entry as a public safety concern. We are collecting what neighbors see and working out which City office responds.
What’s happening
The council’s list flags loitering under the bridge at the Vinegar Flats entry. We have not yet gathered details such as how often it happens, at what times, or what neighbors are seeing.
We have no record yet of this being reported to the City or of any City response.
Who handles it
- Loitering or camping on public property: report to Spokane 311 (spokane311.org or 3-1-1). A City guide lists (509) 755-7489 for reporting camps on public property. The guide we found is from 2021; check that the number is current.
- A crime or emergency: Crime Check or 911.
- Who responds: the City guide says responses can involve Spokane Police neighborhood resource officers, Code Enforcement staff and outreach providers. Current practice to be confirmed.
Why it matters
Neighbors and visitors use this entrance every day. Feeling unsafe at an entrance affects how people use the neighborhood, and reports to the City are how a location gets on the response list.
Where things stand
- Next — Report the location through Spokane 311 and track the response. No City response on file.
- Raised by council — Added to the council’s open issues list. Date and who raised it to be confirmed.
How you can help
You do not need to be an expert. What you see every day is useful.
Start here (a few minutes)
- Report what you see. Use Spokane 311 and note the date, time and exact spot. Do not approach anyone, and call 911 in an emergency.
- Tell us too. Share the spot, when it happens and what you saw in the form below, so we can follow up with the City.
